5th Do Over Challenge Reveal!

Jeannie K. Dukic sent each participant an old, tried, boring piece of my jewelry for free and you will work your magic and turn it into something beautiful and amazing.  The jewelry she sent out for this challenge are designs made when she was new to jewelry-making and won’t sell.   Well she could, but she believes no one would buy them.  This is NOT jewelry currently listed on her website!  There will be no art beads of any kind in what you receive, and it will not be in any fancy packaging when you receive it.
Yeah....no fancy packaging here.
There is no guarantee that participants will even like the jewelry they receive for this challenge.  Remember, this is just a challenge and the goal is to have fun with the jewelry make-over!  Here is what I received:
A gold chain with crystals, and gemstones and earrings to match.  The owl charm was part of the "nothing fancy" packaging.  I can't say that I liked the necklace, but that is because I don't use pastel colors much.  I don't have any crystals in my stash to go with those on the necklace/earrings.  But that owl charm is hooting at me to be used.
I redid the earrings:
I actually had an art bead, from emmyloubeads, that kind of went with the crystals, and now I have a necklace.

And now for the fun piece!

  2. That art bead from Emmylou is beautiful and perfect for this re-make. Good Choice. The earrings would be so fun to wear, swinging around, lookin' all flirty and cool.
Ok WoW with my owl pendant. Did you make that rope? It's stunning.

    1. The challenge was challenging and fun too. I did make the kumihimo rope. I love making them and may use them more in my designs in the future. It seems a lot of folks want to use your package charms for pendants!

  4. Our earrings have a very similar feel to them.. Ould love to see the necklace hung. I had to use 'glass' crystlas to lengthen my piece as I didn't have any realy crystals the right colour! Not sure what I did with my 'charm' I know I got one...

  6. I have recently received Jeannie's package for the Echo Club and I was thinking the same about the charm: I could easily incorporated in a jewelry design :)

Your do-over is fabulous - I love the tassel on the necklace, and the fun piece is just that: fun and perfectly charming.

  7. I wouldn't have known what do with the pastel crystals, either, but you made it work. Very nice. I also got the same owl charm on my package and it never occurred to me to use it in a necklace. You're very creative. I'm impressed!

BSBP#8: The Big Reveal

Right to the good stuff..... Made with Rhonda's beaded bead, crystals, and agate rondelles. Made with Rhonda's (she made it) clasp and lampwork focal. Bracelet made with brown rainbow bugle beads supplied by Rhonda. Bracelet is based on a tutorial, Toskana by SeeBead .  I used Czech twins instead of tila or tile beads.  I didn't have enough tile beads so the twins made a wonderful substitution. Soup I started with. Thank you Lori for hosting a wonderful 8th swap and blog hop!  Thank you Rhonda for a most enjoyable soup!  To see other simmering soups and creations visit the BSBP blog for the list of participants (about 500)! 7th Bead Soup Blog Party: 1st Reveal!!!

Here is a pic of my final design for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party , hosted by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things.  It was a lot of fun, and I still have about 50% of party goer blogs to visit. Last minute additions:  Working with leftover soup!  Bracelet made with gorgeous teal agates.  I love the clasp.  I didn't know it was a clasp until it stuck to some metal chain.  Investigating further, I found it was a magnetic clasp.  How cool is that?  Jayashree sent me a wonderful soup.  Believe it or not, I still have more soup!  Stay tuned for more. Now, what to do with the brass stampings..... Just added a few swarovski pearls and walla!  Dangle earrings! Now it is time for me to show off some of what I made with the bead soup from Jayashree Paramesh, Nchantme . The funny thing is, I am not done yet.  I have soup leftover.  I will post more, if I have time. Don't forget to stop by Jayashree's blog to see what she made with the soup I sent h

One Crayon Color Challenge Reveal!

My favorite color as a child was bittersweet orange.  Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime came up with idea for a blog hop/challenge just using one color (and its various hues) from a basic crayon box. I managed to finish two bracelets and a necklace.  The top bracelet is a right angle weave orange seed beads embellished with 3mm cubes in shades of orange.   The necklace is done with orange cat eye beads, fire opal crystals, adventurine, and ice beads in shades of orange.  The second bracelet is a leather wrapped, copper bangle which used up most of the leftover beads.  This was a lot of fun!
